Inauguration

October 18, 2003

After a hiatus of well over a year, I’m back online with the blog. I used to insist on calling it the “Daily Log”, but I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that it is a blog, I’m a blogger, and that’s okay. Many thanks to Kerne Fahey for coaching me through the installation of Movable Type on Monadology.net.

This is a little test of the comments feature.

Huzzay! (It looks nice, though the tab ordering in the comment template will take me some getting used to - I always hit TAB and then ENTER really fast to post because I’m hopelessly spoiled.)

Hey. Be on AIM after 1 AM EST tonight? I’ll hand over to you the BLT feed index template, and we can get you into BLT mebbe.

Whoo. Are you sure you want to be under the Creative Commons License? Like, have you read it, and do you know what it means?

Oh, and enable anonymous commenting.

1) Kerne, I’m very sorry I wasn’t online last night—we went into town last night so I didn’t check the computer until this (Sunday) morning. When else would be convenient?

2) Martin: I’ll keep that in mind. At a certain point I gave up and used the default EVERYTHING for this page and the comment pop-up. That’s partially because, as I just found, Opera breaks my homepage, and that’s no good. Which means I’m starting over. Which means I should rearrange the buttons for you.

3) What don’t you like about the CCL, Kerne? It seemed to protect any worthwhile content if it ever appeared (like poetry, etc.) and be kind of a funny thing to have the rest of the time, since who the hell is going to be interested in any of the other stuff? But now I’m curious—enlighten me.

I just wanted to be sure that you’d actually read it. I’m repeating a warning from the MT user’s guide. If you understand what it means, then go ahead and use it.

I did read it, and it seemed inoccuous enough. Like I say, I’m open to hearing any complaints you have about using it. I would never have thought of such a thing if not suggested by MT.
